W.J. Watkins, 68, of Stanfield passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 in his home.  His funeral service will be 3 PM Sunday, June 3, 2018 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle with Rev. Lynn Garris officiating.  The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle from 2:30 until 3 PM prior to the service.

Born November 17, 1949 in Westminster, SC, he was the son of the late George W. Watkins and Ollie Mae Honea Watkins.  He was a construction worker with Eastern Construction in Charlotte.  Mr. Watkins loved to fish.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Judy Edna Griffin Watkins of the home, stepdaughters Pam Cagle (Pat) of New London, Lee Lowder (Jane) of Marshville, and Tony Lowder of Locust, 6 grandchildren Ashley Halstead of Norwood, Brittney Cagle of Alabama, Casey Lowder of the home, Billi Smith of Locust, Crystal Lowder of Charlotte and Tiffany Lowder of Alabama, 8 great grandchildren Kahlen Halstead of WV, Trevor Halstead of WV, Emmalin Halstead of WV, Barry Halstead III of WV, Grayson Lowder of the home, Jacob Johnson of Alabama, Kelsey Lowder of Alabama and Anthony Smith of Locust, brothers Alton Watkins (Latricia) of Mt. Crogham, SC and Edward Watkins of Canton, GA and sister Sarah Lee of Westminster, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.
