Shirley Holt Pence, 79, of Albemarle, NC passed away February 13, 2018 in Trinity Place. Her memorial service will be 2 PM Thursday February 15, 2018 in the Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care Chapel with Rev. Keith Walters officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM prior to the hour of the service.

Shirley was born on August 26, 1938 in Stanly County, NC and was the daughter of the late George Monroe Holt and Frances Harwood Holt. She worked in the textile industry. Shirley enjoyed volunteering as a EMT as long as her health permitted.

Mrs. Pence was preceded in death by her husband James Edgar Pence. Survivors include a son Donnie Sides and wife Kimberly of Albemarle, NC, daughter Paula Sides Barrier and husband Caleb of Albemarle, NC, two sisters Gail Holt Clark of Albemarle, NC and Betty Holt Curlee and husband Jay of Aquadale, NC., nine grandchildren Casey Sides, Jennifer Allen, Carrie Sides, Josh Sides, Krystal Barrier, Meagan Hursey, Mia Vazques, Blake Cole and Morgan Cole and eight great-grandchildren and her best friend of over forty years Susie Dunn. Shirley was also preceded in death by two sons Sidney Eugene Sides and Eddie Glenn Sides and a grandson Donnie Sides, Jr.
