James Clayton Helms, 90 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Helms was born August 24, 1926 in Stanly County to the late James Luther Helms and the late Autybelle Burris Helms. He was also preceded in death by wife, Lula Macie Hinson; sons, Randy Helms and James Helms; brothers, Charlie Lee Helms and John Ryland Helms; sisters, Mary Gladys Hatley and Rhoda June Burris.

The funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., at Salisbury National Cemetery with military honors.

Survivors include step daughter, Sybil Austin of New Salem, brother, Bobby (Bonnie) Helms of Locust; sisters, Annie Mae Harvell of Locust and Lillie Biggers of Concord and several nieces and nephews.
