Catherine Blake Thompson, 85, passed away Sunday January 28, 2018 in Kingswood Nursing Center, Aberdeen, N.C. Her funeral service will be 2 PM Saturday February 3, 2018 at Anderson Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Honeycutt and Rev. Reece English officiating. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:30 PM prior to the service at Anderson Grove Baptist Church.

Catherine was born August 3, 1932 in Patrick, S.C. and was the daughter of the late Sam Blake and Nettie Frances Cato Blake. She retired from Stanly Regional Hospital as a Switchboard Operator. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Anderson Grove Baptist Church. She loved to bowl and was on a local league.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Carson Eugene Thompson in 2001. She is survived by a son Dr. Sam Thompson and wife Marie of Albemarle, N.C., two daughters Elaine Byrd and husband Jerry of Mt. Gilead, N.C. and Lorraine Rice and husband Pat of Oak Island, N.C., a brother Ralph Blake and wife Myrtle Rae of Asheville, N.C., five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A brother Alfred Blake preceded her in death.
