MINT HILL, NC – The song “Nobody said it was easy” by Coldplay comes to my mind during times like these. Investing may seem easy when markets are generally calm, but at Fulcrum we believe the markets don’t just move up or in a single direction.
The key to investing deals with “reaction” and how investors confront the challenge of downturns. This will directly impact the success of the portfolio performance over the long run. It comes down to an investor’s time in the market rather than trying to time the market. Investors need to remember that long-term returns include the ups and the downs of the markets. By sticking with your plan and tried-and-true investment strategies, you can avoid the emotional roller coaster that many investors fall prey to and continue working steadily toward your financial objectives.
You may read this and think to yourself, “this is easier said than done!” If you have read my articles before in the Mint Hill Times paper I’m sure you realize I always like to revisit how emotions effect our investing style.
