Monday, June 18, the Stanly County Public Library kicked off the summer reading program with a Summer Reading Extravaganza at the Agri-Civic Center in Albemarle. Children of all ages enjoyed dancing and singing during an interactive performance by Big Bang Boom.
The theme for this year’s summer reading program is “Libraries Rock!” Each library branch will hold fun events throughout the summer related to this theme. A schedule of summer reading events can be found online at www.stanlycountylibrary.org or at each library branch.
Registration for the summer reading program began June 1 and can be completed at your nearest library branch. Children will receive a reading record and will have the opportunity to earn raffle tickets for reading books during the summer. Raffle prizes include Sweet Frog gift cards, Lego sets, books and DVDs.
