Stanly Community College (SCC) recently hosted two state Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) functions. SCC, Barton College, Lenoir-Rhyne University, and Central Carolina Community College were sites of North Carolina (NC) PBL “Kick-Offs for Captains and Coaches.”
Chapter officers and advisers met at the simultaneous meetings to preview state and national activities for the year. Chapter leaders participated in the location closest to them. In early September, the NCPBL Executive Council and the NCPBL Professional Division-Foundation (PD-F), Inc., Board of Directors, met on the SCC campus.
President of the PD-F Board is Rick Gardner, a former state president from SCC and now a manager at the Food Lion corporate offices. Leading the Phi Beta Lambda Council is President Katrina Sams, an SCC graduate now enrolled at Western Carolina University.
Phi Beta Lambda membership is open to all college students and emphasizes development in business, leadership, and professionalism areas. The SCC chapter was designated as one of the nation’s “Gold Seal Chapters” at the National Leadership Conference held in Anaheim, California, this past summer. Leading the group for 2017-18 is Business Administration Major Britney Pouch.
