Regional health care system opens 45 clinics and adds 113 physicians in 2019
Novant Health today announced its physician and clinic growth for 2019 in the greater Charlotte market. Within the past twelve months, the health care system opened 45 clinics and added 113 physicians. The new clinics include 28 startups, three of which were joint ventures with GoHealth, and 17 satellite locations. A total of 77 clinics and 206 physicians were added across the health care system.
“To meet the demands of unprecedented growth in the Charlotte market, our focus in 2019 was ensuring vital services were more accessible and convenient for communities who may otherwise feel the care they need is out-of-reach,” said Saad Ehtisham, president and chief operating officer of Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. “We’ll continue having a forward-looking focus to bring care to areas we see as fast-growing, including virtual health and artificial intelligence, which not only improve access but enhance the overall patient experience.”
Of the 113 physicians who joined Novant Health in 2019, 17 were hospital-based medicine internists. The Novant Health Community Health & Wellness Institute saw the most growth with 46 physicians joining clinics across the market, in addition to:
- 25 physicians joining the Novant Health Women’s & Children’s Institute
- 9 physicians joining the Novant Health Neurosciences Institute
- 6 physicians joining the Novant Health Heart & Vascular Institute
- 5 physicians joining the Novant Health Surgical Institute
- 3 physicians joining the Novant Health Cancer Institute
- 2 physicians joining the Novant Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute
In 2020, key capital projects are scheduled for completion, including:
- Novant Health SouthPark Medical Plaza, which will include a women’s center with more than six clinics with services tailored to meet women’s medical needs
- Novant Health Edward I. and Agnes B. Weisiger Cancer Institute and John M. and Claudia W. Belk
- Heart & Vascular Institute in City Center Charlotte
- Novant Health Wallace Cancer Institute in Salisbury
- Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic – North End
Groundbreaking for other projects, including a medical center in south Charlotte and an ambulatory facility in east Charlotte, are slated to begin in 2020, as well.
