A graduation ceremony was held on Tuesday, August 22, for the sixth class of the Digital Photography Certificate program at Stanly Community College (SCC). Students displayed their favorite photos and presented photographic stories as part of the ceremony.
This program consists of six courses, and the students who persist in the program dedicate almost a year to learning and improving their photography craft. Students received training in various aspects of photography including an in-depth study of studio and location techniques, lighting, digital imaging, retouching, and layout design. Additional topics included sport features and photo stories. The Digital Photography program is designed to provide knowledge and skills necessary to work independently or assist professional photographers.
This graduating class enjoyed many location shoots including trips to Love Valley, Awe Shucks in Monroe, Thomasville, Mt. Airy, Gold Hill Bike Ride, Memorial Gardens in Concord, and the Opera House right here in Albemarle, as well as others.
A reception was held in the Whitley Technology Center following the graduation ceremonies. Family, friends, and SCC employees had the opportunity to view and admire the students’ photographic portfolios.
