In celebration of National Auctioneer Day, the Small Business Center (SBC) and Carolina Auction Academy (CAA) of Stanly Community College (SCC) joined efforts to provide a recognition day for auctioneers on April 12, 2017.

Participants from as far away as Bryson City enjoyed a session on Proposals, Adding Value To Your Business, by Benjamin Farrell of Benefit Auction Specialists. Afterward, everyone went to Tiffany’s on Main for lunch, entertainment, door prizes, and networking with CAA graduates and other invited guests.

Albemarle Mayor Ronnie Michaels welcomed the group and talked about business and civic activities of the town. After lunch, a second session was presented by Chris Brown titled Humor and the Auctioneer.

Charlie Diehl, Executive Director of the NC Auctioneer Licensing Board, gave an overview and was available for questions and answers. Several members of the licensing board also stopped by to welcome the forty attendees.

This is the second year the SBC and CAA have joined to sponsor this special celebration of local and statewide auctioneers. According to SBC Director Alicia Herrin, National Auctioneer Day will become and an annual event and a joint venture between the two departments of the College.

The next class of Carolina Auction Academy will begin August 28, 2017.
