CHARLOTTE, NC – Congratulations, you’ve officially made it to the closing “table!” Gone are the days of dressing up to discuss the formalities that come along with the final step to homeownership.
The E-Sign Act of 2000 truly makes your electronic signature just as legitimate as if you signed the documents in person, at least most of them. In North Carolina, there are two options. The first option is a Remote Online Notary, which allows for a full virtual closing for an extra fee to the borrower, and can take place at the borrower’s home. A partially virtual closing allows for most documents to be signed virtually. The remaining documents are signed in person at the Closing Attorney’s office. There is no extra fee for this option.
What You Need for a Remote or Virtual Closing:
- Access to A Computer with Internet
- Link from Our Closing Department to Access the Documents
- A copy of your Driver’s License & Last 4 Digits of Your SSN Readily Available
- Carefully Read Through Each Field
- Sign All Indicated Tags (you will be prompted for each of these tags)
