
MINT HILL, NC – In Southwestern 4A Conference basketball games on Tuesday night, the Providence Panthers hosted the Independence Patriots.

The Lady Patriots held a 30-15 lead at the end of the first half and led by 20, 44-24 after three quarters. The fourth quarter was the only period that the Lady Patriots didn’t score double figures and was the only quarter that the Lady Panthers scored in double figures. After coming away with a 52-41 road win, the Lady Patriots made it 3-0 in conference play and advanced to 13-2 overall. Chloe Moss led the Lady Patriots with 12 points. Hannah Moss added 11, Jessica Worthy 10, Kamryn Kitchen 8, Lola Cabaniss-Ali added 5 points and led the team with 11 rebounds. Jai’lun Brimmer rounded out the Indy’s scoring with 5 points.

In the night cap Indy jumped out to an early lead and held that lead until twenty-one seconds left in the third quarter. Providence tied the score on a mid-range jumper at 24-24 and then took its first lead 25-24 on a free throw with three seconds left in the period.With five minutes left in the fourth quarter, Indy moved out to a six-point lead 33-27. Providence tied the score at 33-33 on two three-point plays. Indy’s Zion Bosley-Slade’s 3-pointer with 2:19 remaining in the game gave Indy a 36-33 lead. However, Providence outscored Indy 7-0 in the last two minutes to take the conference win 40-36. Zion Bosley-Slade led the Patriots with 15 points. Tosh Alberga and Kameron Jasper had 7 points each. Kolbe Johnson 3, Yancy Thomason and Ayden Davis had 2 points each.
