MINT HILL, NC – The owners of Pour 64, Tony and Sarah Brock, have been Mint Hill natives for 17 years now. They were opening their doors 5 years ago on July 27, with what started off as a hobby and a genuine love for craft beers. They identified the need to “provide a convenient way of drinking from great crafters in Charlotte, at a location closer to home,” as Sarah shared. She told of how they took a leap of faith, unaware of how their business would thrive.

Luckily, Pour 64 has had great support from the community throughout the years. As longtime customer Pete Reece stated, “We’ve been supporting Pour 64 since day one, the very first night they opened.” Many locals have said Pour 64 has been a great bonus to living in Mint Hill for the added value of having a community, family, and pet-friendly business.

Sarah retells of the initial impact of COVID-19 two years ago, stating that, “during the pandemic, people came out and ordered crowlers to go. We would not have survived the pandemic without support.” Graciously, Pour 64 continues to remain active in the Mint Hill community by holding local events year-round with Chamber of Commerce, Oktoberfest, and cornhole tournaments, to name a few. They also offer private booking events for parties, birthdays, and anniversaries through requests made from their social media.

Pour 64 offers a wide range of varieties of 40 craft beer taps as well as gluten-free options including hard kombucha, hard seltzer, hard ciders, and ginger beer. Pour 64’s 5-year anniversary event was a great reason to get out of the house and socialize with great music, food, drinks, and games. Locals gathered to play in the cornhole tournament and connect four competitions as they sipped on the craft brew selections from inside.

As if the day was not already special, Pour 64 invited a local brewery, Petty Thieves, to showcase some of their flagship brews, the Andalusia and Sky Line. Petty Thieves started out as an “under-dog” brewing company, deciding to open at the beginning of the pandemic.  In doing so, Petty Thieves has earned the right to be called one of the most resilient breweries in Charlotte. The passionate sales representative from the brewing company, Hank Hanegraff, attended and shared the story behind the name: the “idea that every art form or technology, the present people steal from the past generations. We are respecting our past, but we are also being a little revolutionary.”

To help make the event a party to remember, Nate Randall and Jaxx Jacks performed live music to enjoy. The musicians performed a tuneful harmony of acoustics in a lounge rock style to entertain the crowd. Now, what is an event without food? Pour 64 thought of every detail by inviting Jeremiah’s Ice to enjoy while cooling down as others preferred to be outdoors. Additionally they included some one-of-a-kind food trucks: TruGrits, and The Rican Rednecks. The personable owners from TruGrits, David and Naomi Gochette, served up flavorful dishes to keep the crowd fed and satisfied. Their signature dish, Poppin Shrimp and Fries, was a crowd pleaser for its unique spin on the classic shrimp basket.

Furthermore, The Rican Rednecks food truck appeared with some authentic Puerto Rican dishes such as chicken, and rice with plantains aimed to hit the spot. The owner, Arnaldo Rodriquez, kindly thought of the pickiest eaters – the kids. He created a pizza-flavored empanada, which was all the rage among the children and adults. Pour 64 deserves a grand celebration for spotlighting other local businesses while embracing togetherness and community in the quaint town of Mint Hill. Happy Anniversary Pour 64!
