The new Mint Hill Medical Center opens in October and one of the features of it will be a breast imaging center fully equipped with the latest imaging and diagnostic technology.
The center will be located on the third floor of the hospital’s medical plaza, Charnaye Bosley, Novant Health’s assistant director of women’s imaging, said.
“We are proud to announce that it will have screening and diagnostic services available from Day 1,” Bosley said.
Coming in for screenings and other services offered at the center can be stressful. To help reduce stress and anxiety, some special features have been added, she said.
“We have created a spa like atmosphere where we have a spa retreat room within the breast imaging center where we will have massage chairs for the patients that may be experiencing anxiety or (who) would like to wait in there prior to their exams,” Bosley said.
Equipment and services at the breast imaging center will include 3D mammography, which helps in finding earlier stage breast cancers, screening mammography services, bone density testing and more, she said.
“In my opinion, the breast imaging center is going to be a huge benefit to our community. The average median age for women in that particular area (Mint Hill) is 46 years old,” Bosley said.
It is recommended for women in that age range to get regular mammograms. Having the center in Mint Hill will prevent people from having to travel all the way to Matthews or other areas for services, she said.
Those interested can sign up now for services at the breast imaging center. Opportunities for the community to learn more about the center and other parts of the new hospital will be available during a ribbon cutting and celebration 10 a.m. – noon on Friday, Sept. 21. There will also be opportunities to learn more during the hospital’s community day, which is 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22.
