Recently New Attitude Performing Arts Center moved their location to 877 West Red Cross Road, Locust, North Carolina to a beautiful and spacious facility. Owner/Artistic Director Erika Hogan is really excited about the organizations new home in Stanly County. “This facility provides us with more space for expansion to meet and exceed our customers expectations while meeting the needs of a growing community,” said Erika. The business began in 2009 in Rock Hill, South Carolina and has consistently grown and prospered.
The mission of New Attitude Performing Arts Center is to foster confidence, creativity, build strength along with character to encourage their dancers to embrace differences and accept challenges when in the studio and become better prepared for life.
The studio offers a welcoming atmosphere that allows dancers to flourish and improve their skills while learning new techniques, creating lasting memories, while developing a lifelong passion for dance. Their motto is simple “We believe all students, regardless of age or skill level deserve a quality dance education,” said Hogan.
The music and choreography are age appropriate while maintaining small class sizes so all dancer’s can achieve individual success on their own personal journey of self development is always celebrated in the various classes provided. The instructional staff are all highly qualified and experienced working with youth to nurture students throughout the process.
There are many skills taught which are age appropriate based on the maturity and skills of each student. Twinkling Stars ages 2-5, the youngest dances will take a magical journey to explore basic tap, ballet, creative movement, and acrobatic fundamentals. Shooting Stars, ages 5-8 include classes in tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, aerial skills and acrobatics. Rising Stars, ages 9-12, have many options to select classes which include tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, aerial skills and acrobatics. Super Stars ages 13 and up, have the options of taking all the styles offered by the studio. They also offer gymnastics, and guitar lessons for youth who have an interest or passion to pursue and learn.
The business owner Erika Hogan has 26 years of dance experience and over 15 years teaching. She holds Certifications in Acrobatic Arts, Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance, Bachelor of Science in Fitness/Wellness, Master of Science in Health and Physical Education from Winthrop University. She has been inducted into the Dance of Fame, was selected as a Youth Dance Ambassador, has performed for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Southern Sports Awards, Nickelodeon Celebration Parade at Carowinds, the Dance Theater of Sumter, Columbia City Ballet, Winthrop University Dance Team, and Winthrop Dance Theater.
Finally, the owner set-up a 501(c) NAPAC Foundation of South Carolina. The organization has awarded over $60,000 in combined cash and studio scholarships for dancers. Their goal is providing college scholarships to graduating seniors of NAPAC in both North and South Carolina, which allows more dancers regardless of background or ability the opportunity to afford their passion for dancing.
