Mint Hill Featured Athletes Of The Week

MINT HILL, NC – As we turn our attention away from football to basketball the Ravens seem to have picked up where they left off last season. They still are the “Running Ravens” led by their all-conference standout Jaden Lyles.

The senior PG/SG scored 28 points to lead the Ravens in victory. In particular when the took over the game and dominated the Ravens comeback scoring 19 points in the second half of the contest. He seemed determined to deliver the Ravens to a home court win against a scrappy opponent. Lyles is averaging 26.0 points per game, currently shooting just below an 80% rate from the floor, and is ranked in the top 4 in scoring in 4A West Basketball competition in the state during the early going.



Honorable Mention: 

Yancy Thomason – The Patriot junior scored 15 points, grabbed 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 2 steals against West Mecklenburg. Then followed up with a 14 point performance with 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal against West Charlotte.

Kolbe Johnson – The Indy junior scored 10 points, hauled down 13 rebounds for the double-double against West Charlotte. While in the previous game against West Mecklenburg he contributed 9 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 deflection, and 1 block.

Kamaryn Kitchen – The sophomore PG/SG standout sharpshooter scored 16 points, shot 4-4 from the 3-point range, played excellent defense and pushed the ball up court while taking charge of the Lady Patriots offense while virtually playing 2 plus periods on the hardwood. Against West Charlotte she contributed 16 points, 2, rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.

Chloe Moss – The consistent and solid Forward for the Lady Patriots contributed 15 points, she shot 6-8 from the 3-point range, pulled down 4 rebounds, and had 4 assists in the win over West Mecklenburg. At West Charlotte she had her first double-double scoring 10 points while grabbing 12 rebounds.

Jai’lun Brimmer – The junior Lady Patriot scored an early season high of 22 points, while providing 3 assists and 1 rebound against West Charlotte.

Natalie Goodfellow – The QGHS Lady Stallion senior led the team with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals against Greater Cabaruss.
