MATTHEWS, NC – The Ursus Institute is used to dealing with the heavy topic of human trafficking. Past events have focused on highlighting trafficking survivors, statistics, and what is being done to combat human trafficking efforts by their organization and others. However, Executive Director TammyHarris was ready to shake up her approach to fundraising events and spreading awareness forThe Ursus Institute in 2021.

“We’ve all been through a roller coaster of emotions over the last year and a half with the pandemic and other very serious issues in our lives. I felt that what people really want and need right now is a fun night out where they can forget about their worries. Hosting a stand-up event with a variety of different performances is a way to not just give an escape, but also a voice to artists in the area. At The Ursus Institute, we are all about giving voice to those who maybe aren’t always heard.” states Executive Director, Tammy Harris.

Stand Up Against Trafficking will be held at The Charlotte Room at Mario’s Italian Restaurant in Matthews, NC on Tuesday, October 12 from 6 pm-9 pm. In addition, to live performances from comedians, singers, musicians, and poets there will also be food and drinks provided. Beyond the laughter, the event will also give a space for Tammy to spread awareness of The UrsusInstitute and their anti-human trafficking efforts.
