Parenthood is the toughest job you’ll ever love, but it’s even better when you’ve got a supportive community.  Carolina Pea Pods LLC, founded earlier this year by Trisha Winkler and Ashley Sietmann, was grown from an idea based on their years of dedication and experience in the childcare field. The company offers a variety of customizable options to assist families with their day to day struggles, in the form of respite care, assistance with transportation to and from extra-curricular activities and advice and resources for navigating the many milestones and difficulties of raising young children.

Trisha Winkler, former Child Life Specialist, toddler teacher, and childcare center director brings over 15 years of experience and expertise in the childcare field.  As a mother, she has dealt extensively with navigating the school systems and promoting a safe environment for her child with allergies. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Human Services, with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from the University of Buffalo.  She holds also certifications in SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and BSAC (Basic School Age Care).

Co-founder Ashley Sietmann holds a certificate in Infant/Toddler and Preschool education, as well as having completed her training for BSAC.  She is also SIDS, First/Aid, and CPR certified. Ms. Sietmann holds an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and North Carolina Early Childhood Credentials.  She has over 13 years of experience in the childcare field and for the past seven years, she has been specializing in infant care and education. She is also a parent and has worked as a nanny and early childhood education teacher.

In a recent interview, Ms. Winkler shared her vision for the new business. The goal of establishing Carolina Pea Pods LLC was to be able to provide families with “more than just textbook answers for the problems they were experiencing”. Ms. Winkler and Ms. Sietmann strive to reduce worry and stress for families by providing parents with support and advice from individuals who have been through those very same experiences.

Carolina Pea Pods LLC aims to strengthen the community at the family level.  They offer services in three areas: postpartum and newborn care, family and sibling support, and preschool and school-age support.  Postpartum and newborn care support involves services from basics such as diapering, feeding and bathing infants to light cleaning, nursery set up, assistance with baby proofing, and running errands.  Family and sibling support services include options such as newborn care, support with sibling rivalry, and sick child care for mild illnesses.  Preschool and school-age services include guidance for potty training, sleep support, behavioral support, transportation assistance for extra-curricular activities, respite care, and tutoring in reading and math for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Carolina Pea Pods LLC is also offering a summer camp for interested families starting June 11th and running through August 22nd.  Camp will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8 a.m until 5 p.m. There will be a variety of options for outings and activities.  For pricing and availability, please contact Trisha Winkler at 410-370-5867 or Ashley Sietmann at 980-422-7862.
