Has your Facebook account been cloned

Mostly likely, no, your Facebook account hasn’t been cloned.

If you’re a Facebook user, you’ve probably seen the warning message from someone about getting another friend request from you.

The message goes something like this:

”Hi….I actually got another friend request from you yesterday…which I ignored so you may want to check your account. Hold your finger on the message until the forward button appears…then hit forward and all the people you want to forward too….I had to do the people individually. Good Luck.”

A cloned account is an account which is set up with your name and uses the same profile picture and cover photo as your account does and then fills in as much information about you as possible.

When this happens, and it happens often enough on Facebook, it’s a scam to get your friends to add the new account so they can send spam messages and links to your friends in hopes they will click or respond since they think it’s coming from you.

However there hasn’t been an increase in this issue and most people receiving the warning have not had their account cloned. No need to worry, just always double check before accepting someone’s friend request. Always.
