CHARLOTTE – Wow, so many new Electrical Vehicles coming out this year from Ford, Jeep, Chevy, Audi, Volkswagen, Dodge, Sony/Honda collaboration and a couple start-ups Mullen and Canoo just to name a few! All of them advertise their maximum charge distance! As you research the vehicles, also research the charger options. There are many options available for charging an Electric Vehicle (EV) at home.

Charging your EV at home is essential. Your EV may come ready with a cord that can plug directly into a regular standard 120 Volts outlet at home. This Level 1 type is a method of charging that typically will allow for 4 miles of battery charge for every hour of charging.

Installing a Level 2, 240 Volts charger at home will allow you to fully charge up while plugged in overnight. Consider having your Level 2 charger installed by a licensed electrician before bringing your new car home.

After choosing the EV charger, call a knowledgeable certified, insured electrician to install the EV charger in your home or at your office. They can help you with your power needs, wiring options, and location. Make sure to communicate all your questions, thoughts and future wishes to them for the best installation.

Duke is currently offering an EV Charger Prep Credit in some areas; you can get details on their website.

If you have any questions about installing an EV Charger or any other electrical concerns call GB Electrical Services at (980) 500-2378 or visit GetTheBestElectric.com.
