The weather is warming up and I think it’s here to stay! Time to lighten up and savor some spring seasonal brews! Here are a few of my local favorites for this time of year.

Doin’ Thyme Witbier by Birdsong Brewing Co.
Belgian-style wheat ale is a springtime favorite. Brewed with fresh thyme, coriander and lemon peel. This crisp and refreshing beer will appeal to light beer drinkers and newbies to the world of craft beer! This beer is available from Birdsong March – May. ABV 4.3%

Sal’s Paradise Saison Cask by Triple C Brewing Co.
This is a limited edition pilot batch! Sal’s Paradise is a Belgian saison with notes of coriander. This beer has a dry yet fruity taste. They receive bonus points for using 100% NC grown malt. ABV 5.3%

Spring Brew Biere De Mars by Front Street Brewery
This beer has a deep, golden color from a blend of barley, wheat and oats. Spring Brew has a smooth, creamy mouthfeel with subtle fruitiness and a touch of hops. It won gold at the 2012 World Beer Cup! ABV 6.2%

Hummin’ Bird Helles Golden Munich Lager by Red Oak
This is not a seasonal beer but it sure tastes great in the spring! This Bavarian style lager goes through one month of slow, cold fermentation which produces delicate and balanced flavors that give a lush mouth feel. ABV 4.5%
