CHARLOTTE – The beginning of a new year is a great time to start a healthy routine with you and your fur baby!

Step Up Your Pet’s Dental Game: Schedule an oral health appointment with your vet, and ask him/her to show you how to brush your pet’s teeth. Brush your fur baby’s teeth daily to prevent bad breath, cavities, and gum disease. Regular daily brushing is the single most effective method of preventing the buildup of plaque and tartar.

National Pet Dental Health Month is next month, and dental health is crucial to the health and well-being of your furry companions. Believe it or not, most dogs and cats develop some degree of dental disease during their life, often by the time they are just three years old.

There are several signs that may indicate dental disease in your pets. If you notice your pet’s breath is less than fresh, your pet is most likely exhibiting signs of periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is the most common dental condition in dogs and cats. Without treatment, this can lead to the spread of bacteria and other issues in the kidney, liver, and heart over time.

OraVet Chews (available at your vet) are a great alternative to brushing. They work to form a preventive barrier that blocks bacteria and the future formation of plaque and tartar that builds up over time.

Healthy mouths make for healthy and happy pets!
