CHARLOTTE – Passionate Paws is hosting a Howl-iday Photo Event and Food Drive on December 3, 2022 with Common Heart Food Pantry. Bring your fur baby to our Weddington-Matthews location for a special holiday photo with the Grinch and Cindy Lou while giving back to the community through donating pet or human food to Common Heart.

Last week we shared Part 1 of our interview with Kara Lopp, Community Engagement Manager for Common Heart Pantry. We’re sharing Part 2 this week.

What are your top goals for the rest of 2022 and looking into 2023? To spread a small revolution of kindness in our community by focusing on the individuals, not numbers. Our food pantries are not just about giving food — in many cases we find it’s the friendships that people build that keep them coming back. It gives hope and encouragement as well as providing for basic needs. With our Economic Empowerment programs, we want even more families to be able to participate in these life-changing focus groups and workshops to continue their journeys out of poverty and into stability.

What are some of the best ways that people can support your efforts? Food drives! Those are so key right now. People can also donate online to help us buy food and support families journey out of poverty. We also have a big need for volunteers, especially in our Marshville food pantry warehouse and to provide meals for our Getting Ahead program (sessions are held several times per week in Stallings & Marshville). Additionally, we’re collecting restaurant and grocery store gift cards to help provide these meals. Donate and sign up to volunteer: CommonHeart.org
