CHARLOTTE – Many people follow the tradition of making a short list of resolutions each time a new year begins. While some promise to improve themselves, others might include things for their furry family members in their plans for a better year ahead. So, what kind of things could be on this list? Here are a few ideas:
- Healthier Diet & Treats: There’s never a wrong time to check with your vet for food recommendations that are most appropriate for your fur baby’s age, breed and lifestyle. Also, ask about healthy treat alternatives such as bits of apples, blueberries and carrots!
- Daily Walks/Exercise: It’s easy for anyone to gain a few pounds around the holidays — yep, even pets! Get some fresh air with your furry friend while you both get your heart rate up with a daily walk.
- Better Dental Care: You know it’s important to take care of your own teeth and gums… but what about your fur baby’s? Schedule an oral health appointment with your vet, and ask him/her to show you how to brush your pet’s teeth. Find out if there are any other tips for keeping a healthy pet mouth!
- Be Adventurous: Whether you have an adventurous dog or a curious cat, it’s nice to get out of the house and do something a little out of the norm with your pet occasionally. Going on a big road trip isn’t even necessary! You can make a short drive to your local pet store or find a restaurant with dog-friendly areas for a change of scenery and schedule.
