Journey Back From a Golf Related Injury

CHARLOTTE- I played golf yesterday in our annual Kiwanis golf tournament. We had a ball. Then last night when I sat down, I started feeling stiffness in my hips, lower back and pelvis. Uh oh, this isn’t good. Flash to this morning, rolling, literally rolling myself out of bed to start my day. I felt frozen. In pain.

I took it easy by doing errands and walking the dog. But those with back pain tell you, it doesn’t have to be strenuous to take your breath away, or make you audibly grunt, or to have you think for 5 minutes how you’re going to get out of a chair.

So for the next couple of weeks you’ll be a part of my journey navigating this new but serious condition. I’ll share with you what seems to work and what doesn’t and how I get my body back to it’s happiest.

I find I’m at my worst getting up in the morning. I forgot what I tell my clients to do, which is lay in bed and get things to move before one foot is set on the ground. I couldn’t put my socks/shoes on so flip flops in 50 degree weather it is!

I applied heat to my back while in my car and I’ll apply it during my long break today. I also added Chinese cups to the sacral area of my back and to my QL muscles. Stay tuned next week to see what worked and how my back injury has progressed.
