CHARLOTTE – In addition to using landscape timbers as borders, many folks are choosing stone to create contrast and definition for their flower beds and other landscaped areas. Several types of stone are ideal and provide a variety of attractive appearances for that curb appeal you may be looking for.
North Carolina Rivers Slicks are smooth surfaced river rocks but the difference between these stones and regular river rocks is they are flat shaped and come in a variety of sizes from small to large. Their flat shape makes them excellent for stacking up to 4 to 6 inches and their beige/light gray colors provide a great contrast to darker colored mulches surrounding the home and natural areas and certain exterior colors of the home itself.
Tennessee River Rocks and other types of smooth river rocks tend to be oval-shaped, not the best for stacking, but placed side by side to create a band around your landscaped areas offer a cobble stone effect once they settle into the ground.
Dry Stack/Veneer Flat Stones that come in many colors and varieties and TN, VA and PA Fieldstones, in addition to creating borders to accent your areas, are so flat you can stack them much higher and are ideal for building walls.
