CHARLOTTE- To all of our landscaper brothers and sisters operating in the Charlotte Region: Here are 3 reasons why your landscaping business needs a budget in 2022.

Get Profitable – You’re in the business of making money. You’re not doing it for practice. Creating a sound budget can forecast growth through determining your profit margins, understanding what your overhead costs are, and identifying how you’re spending your money. Analyze each line item from your numbers from the year before and find out how to make them more efficient and possibly streamlining some operations to justify their costs. It might mean hiring more so that you can concentrate more on sales or figuring out travel costs before you decide on getting a satellite yard that stores material and equipment.

Trimming The Fat – Just because you could cut fat it doesn’t mean you should every time. There’s a fine line of costs you need to eat to do business, but too much fat takes away from good things that could be possible. Look to cut off unbillable hours within reason. Crews will always need to run through pre-work, pick up materials, and travel to work sites. The fat will always be there, but it’s a matter of how much fat to cut off. Can you make pre-work duties more efficient by creating checklists? Should there be one dedicated truck for picking up materials or should you have materials delivered from a supplier? Always analyze your budget and rethink how your company operates with growth in focus.

Budget With Ease – We know how hard budgeting can be but there are numerous software programs that can help anyone budget with ease. Understanding your numbers are just the first steps in business growth and maximizing profits.
