Navigating the COVID-19 Real Estate Market Right Now

MINT HILL, NC – Mint Hill, NC, real estate, just like most real estate across the country, took a hit in April 2020. That was three months ago, which probably feels like three years at this point.

Much has changed since the coronavirus pandemic first hit our country hard. Today’s real estate market isn’t the same as the market in April. Many areas across the country are starting to heat up, and homes for sale in Mint Hill, NC, are starting to become more plentiful.

Whether you’re a first-time homebuyer or you’ve been through the process before, things have certainly changed. Here are a few things you should know if you’re trying to navigate the COVID-19 real estate market right now.

History Repeats Itself, Sort Of

Usually, the real estate market is cyclical and history repeats itself in similar situations. If you look at what happened during the last couple of downturns in the market, it can clue you in with what to expect now.

However, we live in a very different time today than we did even 10 years ago. Work from home options are plentiful, and technology has made it possible for some companies to keep moving forward, even though a pandemic.

The COVID-19 real estate market cannot accurately be compared to what happened in 2008 or what happened after 9/11. It’s a unique situation, and we’ve already seen the market slow down and pick back up quickly.

Expect a Technological Experience

One of the first things real estate agents had to do when the coronavirus pandemic hit was adjusted. Some were more prepared than others because they were already using technology that simply isn’t optional anymore.

Buyers and sellers can expect far more technology to be involved in the process today. From virtual and video home tours to video chat meetings to virtual document signing, you might spend more time on your computer than before.

Buying and Selling Decisions are Difficult

It’s hard to decide to buy or sell right now based on the current state of things. The future seems very unpredictable.

Even during a strong market and a predictable future, it’s necessary to choose to buy or sell based on your situation, not what the market is currently doing. Figuring out if it’s the right time to buy or sell, should be based more on your needs than what you think the market might do in the future.

Base the decision to buy on your current employment situation, what your family needs, and your financial situation right now. If you need to sell it because it’s time to move for a job, for family, or for any other reason, don’t let predictions about the market scare you away from selling.

It’s difficult to know what to expect with the real estate market right now. Nobody can predict the future. If you’re not sure what to do, it’s best to speak with a professional real estate agent before making a life-altering decision.

I would love to be part of your journey when the time is right for you.
