Our next small town is Riquewihr in France.

A popular tourist attraction for its historical architecture, Riquewihr is also known for the Riesling and other great wines produced in the village. Riquewihr looks today more or less as it did in the 16th century. It is officially one of the most beautiful villages in France, or Les plus beaux villages de France.

This is one of the few towns in France where Reisling is still produced right in tow,. The buildings, streets architecture and wine seem exactly like they must have been centuries ago. The colorfull homes and shops show the pride of the townspeople in this small village.

For some unknown reason, this town was spared from the ravages of World War II. Today it retains all the glamour it did centuries ago, not having to be rebuilt or replicated. On a River Cruise, this quaint old town is accessed from Breisach, near the border of France, Swiotzerland, and Germany. Not far from the the town of Basel, and easily accessible from Lucerne or Zurich, Switzerland, this becomes a relaxing day where one can join the locals at a tavern or Café. Take in the kaleidoscope of colors, enjoy the mix of menus, and take part in the celebration of life that is Riquewihr, France.
