CHARLOTTE – The bus tour was restful and gave us a very good orientation of everything we would try to see in our short 2 days in Paris. We learned a lot from the pre-recorded narrative, but the number of facts was just overwhelming. We got our first glance at the Eiffel Tower, as well as the Cathedral Notre Dame Paris. Tears flowed out of my eyes as we observed the work going on to restore the magnificent Cathedral to it pre-fire glory. We understood there was a target date of Christmas, 2024 for the first Catholic Mass to be said in the restored Church.
Our first night we opted for an early retirement, and our Hotel bed was most welcome. The next day, Avalon had arranged for our group of 32 to have a guided tour of Paris Highlights. As we sat in our big Tour Bus with only 32 passengers, we stretched out in comfort the entire 4 hours. We made 3 stops at the Eiffel, One of the Museums, and the grounds of a French Palace, restored from the 18th century. It was a wonderful, but busy half day. Barbara and I had made a dinner reservation for early evening, so after a light lunch, we did just a little more shopping, then back to our hotel to change and freshen for dinner.
