MINT HILL, NC – Most parents want the very best for their children. We want our children to grow up to be self sufficient, productive members of society. We invest in educating our children so that they can make a positive contribution to the world around them. Although it is important that our children are prepared academically, they must also have the proper attitude in order to rise to their fullest potential. We have heard the famous saying, “Attitude determines altitude”. This statement is absolutely true. What can we do to prepare our children to be able to face challenges, fail and have the ability to get up and move forward? We can teach our children that trying, failing and trying again is the way that we learn and gain experience. When we teach our children to be afraid of failing, we disarm them. Once a child understands that learning is a process, they will be willing to try new things or things that challenge them. A child with a winning attitude is not afraid to make mistakes, is excited to learn new things and is willing to help others. Teaching a child empathy is a part of educating him. A child with a winning attitude will not only become an independent learner, but will look for opportunities to be of service to others.
