Disney on Ice will present Frozen at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte Thursday, October 5 through Sunday, October 8. Show dates and times are as follows: October 5 at 7 p.m., October 6 at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m., October 7 at 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and October 8 at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tickets start at $20. On the first Saturday of each month, the Stanly County Museum will offer a STEM program for children in K-5th grade. This month, children will learn about the history of the medical field and will try a “brain surgery” leak proof bag experiment. The museum is located at 157 North 2nd Street, Albemarle. Wednesday, October 11
Children’s Story Time will be held at 10 a.m. at the Albemarle Main Library.
The Charlotte Hornets will play their first preseason home game at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte. The Hornets will take on the Boston Celtics at 7 p.m. Visit www.nba.com/hornets for a schedule and ticket information.
Thursday, October 12
Bouncing Babies Story Time will be held at 11 a.m. at the Albemarle Main Library. The 20 minute program features stories, songs and rhymes for babies birth through 24 months.
Children can strengthen reading skills by reading aloud to a therapy dog during the Read to the Dogs program at the Locust Library. The program is held on the second Thursday of each month. Registration is required. Time slots are available from 4-5:30 p.m.
Every Thursday in October, the Stanly County History Center will host a 45 minute ghost walk in downtown Albemarle led by veteran storytellers. Two of the Thursdays will be family friendly ghost walks. For more information or to register, call 704-986-3777.
