Thursday, June 29

The Locust Library will hold a Nature Storytime program at 10 a.m. for children of all ages.



The Oakboro 4th of July Celebration will feature a full evening of fun including the annual Little Miss 4th of July Pageant at 6 p.m. The carnival on the midway (behind the fire department) opens at 6 p.m. for armband night. Sea Cruz will perform on the Union Power Stage at 8:30 p.m.

Friday, June 30

Preschool Story Time will be held at the Oakboro Library at 9:30 a.m. The theme for June is “Building a Better World.”

The Albemarle Main Library will host Wii Game Day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Oakboro 4th of July Celebration will continue with the Fire Fighters Competition at 6 p.m. The carnival on the midway (behind the fire department) opens at 6 p.m. for armband night. Valhalla will perform on the Union Power Stage at 6:30 p.m. followed by The Tonez at 8:30 p.m.

Head to the ballpark in Kannapolis for First Responders Night at the Intimidators baseball game. The game begins at 7:05 p.m. Local first responders will be recognized during the game and kids will have a chance to meet their favorite Paw Patrol characters. Saturday, July 1

The Oakboro 4th of July Celebration will feature a Talent Showcase at 6 p.m. The carnival on the midway (behind the fire department) opens at 6 p.m. Gary Lowder and Smokin Hot will perform on the Union Power Stage at 8:30 p.m.

Head to the ballpark in Kannapolis for an Intimidators baseball game followed by an All American Patriotic Fireworks Show. The Intimidators will take on Delmarva at 7:05 p.m. For more information or tickets, visit www.intimidatorsbaseball.com.

Monday, July 3

The Locust Library will hold a Story/Craft Time with Melanie at 2:30 p.m.

The Oakboro 4th of July Celebration will feature a performance by Blackwater Rhythm and Blues Band on the Union Power Stage at 8:30 p.m. The carnival on the midway (behind the fire department) opens at 6 p.m. for armband night.

For the Fourth of July holiday, Carowinds will offer free admission to military members on Monday, July 3, Tuesday, July 4 and Wednesday, July 5. There will be fireworks on Tuesday, July 4.

Head to the ballpark in Kannapolis for an Intimidators baseball game followed by an Independence Fireworks Extravaganza. The Intimidators will take on Delmarva at 7:05 p.m. The game is also a guaranteed win night. If the Intimidators don’t win, attendees will receive a free ticket for a future game. Tuesday, July 4

The Oakboro 4th of July Celebration will include a full day of fun for the whole family. The annual parade begins at 9 a.m. The Miss Stanly County Fire Queen Pageant and a BBQ lunch at the fire department will be held at 11 a.m. The carnival on the midway will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., then will reopen at 5 p.m. Midnight Allie will perform on the Union Power Stage at 8:30 p.m. A raffle drawing will be held at 10:30 p.m. followed by a fireworks display.

The Fourth of July Celebration at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte will begin with the SkyShow Street Party. The street festival will take place from 2-10 p.m. on Mint Street and MLK Boulevard in front of the ballpark. The festival will feature live music, carnival rides, bounce houses and more. The fun will continue with a baseball game between Team USA and Team Cuba starting at 6:05 p.m. The game will be followed by the SkyShow Fireworks Spectacular. For those not attending the game, fireworks can be seen from any place near the ballpark, such as Romare Bearden Park.

 Wednesday, July 5

Children’s Story Time will be held at 10 a.m. at the Albemarle Main Library.

The Oakboro Library will hold a Story/Craft Time with Melanie at 2 p.m.
