The Charlotte Checkers will take on the Hershey Bears at 7 p.m. at the Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte. The first 2,500 fans will receive a magnet schedule. The Glow, a Halloween wonderland of more than 5,000 hand-carved jack o’lanterns, will illuminate the Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Carolina Rebellion Campground from October 4-28. The event will feature detailed single pumpkin carvings and large structures, fall food, and live demonstrations from master carvers. The Halloween stroll will be open from Thursday through Sunday. A free movie night will be held in the backyard of Locust City Hall. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to watch Coco on a large inflatable movie screen. The movie will start at sundown. Free popcorn is made possible by Pinnacle Bank and Ace Hardware.
The Talent Company will present Peter Pan Jr. October 20-28 at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center in Albemarle. General admission tickets are $5. Showtimes are October 20, 26 and 27 at 7 p.m. and October 21 and 28 at 3 p.m.

Children’s Story Time will be held at 10 a.m. at the Albemarle Main Library.
Every Wednesday at 11 a.m. children can learn about history through games, stories, crafts and activities during the History Hunters program at the Stanly County Museum. This week, children will learn about the history of Spiderman, Batman and Wonder Woman and will make a superhero craft. The program is designed for children ages 3-6. Children can strengthen reading skills by reading aloud to a therapy dog at the Oakboro Library at 6 p.m.
Thursday, October 25
Bouncing Babies Story Time will be held at 11 a.m. at the Albemarle Main Library. The 20 minute program features stories, songs and rhymes for babies birth through 24 months.
The 2018 Downtown Albemarle Fall Festival and Kids Costume Parade will be held from 5-7 p.m. Costume parade participants should line up at 4:45 p.m. at Second Street Sundries parking lot on Second Street. The costume contest will be held at the Courthouse Square. Children can trick-or-treat at participating businesses in the downtown area.
