Friday, September 14

Preschool Story Time will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Oakboro Library.



The Cabarrus County Fair will be held September 7-15. Attendees will enjoy food, rides, games, entertainment and competitions. Fair hours are Monday-Thursday 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. General gate admission prices are $7.50 for ages 12-54, $3.25 for ages 6-11, free for ages 5 and under or $5.35 with military ID or for ages 55 and over. Saturday, September 15

Bring a blanket or lawn chair to the backyard of Locust City Hall for the summer concert series finale and fireworks show featuring The Fantastic Shakers. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a 9 p.m. fireworks show.

Sunday, September 16

Sea Life Aquarium in Concord will offer Sensory Friendly Sunday from 9-11 a.m. The aquarium will open two hours before the public for families with children on the autism spectrum or children with sensory processing disorders. The aquarium will be adjusted to best reduce sensory triggers throughout each exhibit of the aquarium. There will also be a safe place or comfort room, which can be utilized at any time. Attendees must reply to the online evite at www.visitsealife.com/charlotte-concord. There is also a free online sensory guide to help guests plan for their visit to the aquarium.

Sea Life Aquarium in Concord will offer a Teacher Open House from 1-3 p.m. Teachers (with teacher ID) and one guest will receive free entry to the aquarium and a free behind the scenes tour. Teachers will learn about the educational workshops and field trip experiences offered at the aquarium. There will also be a prize drawing for a free field trip up to 25 students, free education workshop, and four free tickets to Sea Life Charlotte-Concord Aquarium.

Monday, September 17

Preschool Story Time will be held at 10 a.m. at the Locust Library.

Sea Life Aquarium in Concord will offer Creatures of the Deep Homeschool Week September 17-21. There will be daily activities from 12-4 p.m. and when students complete the Deep Sea Lab worksheet, they will receive a Deep Sea Explorer badge. All students and parents will receive the $7.50+tax Homeschool Ticket rate with a valid homeschool ID. For more information, visit www.visitsealife.com/charlotte-concord.

Wednesday, September 19

Children’s Story Time will be held at 10 a.m. at the Albemarle Main Library.

Every Wednesday at 11 a.m. children can learn about history through games, stories, crafts and activities during the History Hunters program at the Stanly County Museum.
