A Summer Reading Children’s Story Time program will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Oakboro Library.
The West Stanly High School football team will play a home game against North Stanly at 7:30 p.m.
The Matthews Alive Labor Day Festival will be held Friday, August 31 through Monday, September 3. The festival will kick off Friday night with $15 all-you-can-ride wristbands, shag dancing, live entertainment and more. Friday festival hours are 6-10 p.m.
Saturday, September 1
On the first Saturday of every month from 10-11 a.m., the Stanly County Museum will offer a free STEM program for K-5th grade students. Today’s program will focus on the history of Lake Tillery, the bridge that was bombed by our own military and a boat that serves ice cream. Sunday main festival hours are 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Kid’s Connection hours are 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Arts and Crafts hours are 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
