Friday, August 31

A Summer Reading Children’s Story Time program will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Oakboro Library.



The West Stanly High School football team will play a home game against North Stanly at 7:30 p.m.

The Matthews Alive Labor Day Festival will be held Friday, August 31 through Monday, September 3. The festival will kick off Friday night with $15 all-you-can-ride wristbands, shag dancing, live entertainment and more. Friday festival hours are 6-10 p.m.

Saturday, September 1

On the first Saturday of every month from 10-11 a.m., the Stanly County Museum will offer a free STEM program for K-5th grade students. Today’s program will focus on the history of Lake Tillery, the bridge that was bombed by our own military and a boat that serves ice cream. The parade will begin Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. The Arts and Crafts Pavilion opens at 9 a.m. There will be carnival rides, live entertainment, festival food and children’s entertainment and activities throughout the day. Saturday main festival hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Kid’s Connection hours are 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Arts and Crafts hours are 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, September 2

The Matthews Alive Labor Day Festival will be held Friday, August 31 through Monday, September 3. Sunday at Matthews Alive will feature arts and crafts, carnival rides, live entertainment, festival food and children’s entertainment and activities throughout the day. Sunday main festival hours are 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Kid’s Connection hours are 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Arts and Crafts hours are 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Monday, September 3

Labor Day

The Matthews Alive Labor Day Festival will be held Friday, August 31 through Monday, September 3. Monday at Matthews Alive will feature arts and crafts, carnival rides, live entertainment, festival food and children’s entertainment and activities throughout the day. Monday main festival hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kid’s Connection hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Arts and Crafts hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Wednesday, September 5

Children’s Story Time will be held at 10 a.m. at the Albemarle Main Library.
