Thursday, July 27

Visit Discovery Place Science in Charlotte for Shark Week July 23-30. The daily activity schedule includes a shark-themed craft, fossil dig and the opportunity to observe a real shark dissection. Shark Week activities will be held daily between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and are included with museum admission. For more information, including an activity schedule, visit science.discoveryplace.org.



The Locust Library will hold a Nature Story Time program at 10 a.m. for children of all ages.

Bouncing Babies Story Time will be held at 11 a.m. at the Albemarle Main Library. The 20 minute program features stories, songs and rhymes for babies birth through 24 months.

Friday, July 28

The Oakboro Library will hold a preschool story time program at 8:45 a.m. and a grades K-5 story time program at 9:30 a.m.

The Albemarle Main Library will host a Wii Game Day at 9 a.m.

The Uwharrie Players will present Mary Poppins at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center in Albemarle. Performance dates are July 28-30 and August 4-6. Tickets are $14 for adults and $11 for juniors/seniors. Tickets can be purchased at Starnes Jewelers, B&D Bookstore or online at uwharrieplayers.org.

Head to the BB&T Ballpark to enjoy a night of baseball with the Charlotte Knights. The Knights will take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at 7:05 p.m. The evening will feature a Friday Night Fireworks show following the game.

Saturday, July 29

Enjoy live music and baseball tonight at the BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte. The Tsunami Wave Riders will host a pre-game concert from 6-7 p.m. followed by a 7:05 p.m. game between the Charlotte Knights and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. One fan attending tonight’s game will also win a Carnival Cruise.

Sunday, July 30

Head to the BB&T Ballpark to enjoy a night of baseball with the Charlotte Knights. The Knights will take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at 5:05 p.m. Kids 12 and under will have a chance to run the bases after the game. For Salute to Softball night, the Long Run Bombers will hold a pregame Home Run Derby at the ballpark.

Wednesday, August 2

Children’s Story Time will be held at 10 a.m. at the Albemarle Main Library.

Thursday, August 3

The Locust Library will hold a Nature Story Time program at 10 a.m. for children of all ages.
