Thank your Veterinary Technicians

Beginning in 1993, the North American Veterinary Technician Association passed a declaration that the third week in October will be celebrated as National Veterinary Technician week each year. October 13-20, 2018 is National Veterinary Technician week this year. Veterinary technicians play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the veterinary hospital.  As a member of the veterinary team, veterinary technicians are educated in the latest medical advances and skilled at working alongside veterinarians to give pets the best medical care possible. They work closely with the veterinarians, veterinary assistants and owners to provide essential care to all species of animals; pets with fur, feathers, scales or skin. Their job does not only consist of medical duties but they also act as a caregiver to their patients and counselor for their clients. Their compassion and love for their job drive them everyday.

If you take your furry friend into the veterinary hospital this week, please let the veterinary technicians know how much you appreciate them and thank them for their hard work everyday.

I was born in Buffalo, NY and attended Veterinary Technology school at Medaille College. After graduating with my AAS in Veterinary Technology, I moved to Charlotte, NC to continue school to become a veterinarian. After working in the field for a year, I realized that my passion was not to be a veterinarian so I maintained my position as a registered veterinary technician. I have worked 20 years in the field and the last 5 as a hospital/practice manager.
I have 2 little girls, ages 7 and 9 who occupy most of my time. We share our home with 2 dogs, a pit bull and a chihuahua mix and a crazy cat.
