CHARLOTTE – Remodeling can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
Dust. There will be dust. Even the best contractors working in ideal conditions will not be able to prevent all dust from occurring. You should plan to protect any furniture in or near the room the contractor will be working in, and an easy way to do this is to use an old bedsheet. It’s easy to remove and fold up the sheet each evening to use the space and easy to toss the sheet back on the furniture the next morning before your contractor arrives. This way your furniture stays clean and you can continue to use and enjoy your space during the renovation.
If you’re renovating your master bath and you have the option of moving into a guest bedroom temporarily – go ahead and plan to do so. Your contractor will appreciate the extra space to work in, and you will retain some of your sanity by not living within a construction zone.
If you only have one bathroom, consider planning your renovation to occur during a vacation. What’s better than leaving on a trip and coming home to a brand new bathroom! If a vacation isn’t an option, make sure you communicate with your contractor early about your concerns and some creative planning can reduce the time you will be without a shower or toilet to one week or less.
