Locust book store opens
Uwharrie Books opened in Locust on Saturday, August 1 to a good crowd. Jennifer and Shawn Chappelle joined Debbie Clineff from A Piece of Cake Bakery in this endeavor. The store at 212-2 East Main Street features new and used books along with local artisans’ and musicians’ works.
The bookstore is a labor of love for the couple, who are avid readers. This was a soft opening for the store but the Chappelles plan a grand opening and ribbon cutting on September 12, from 10 am to noon. This event will feature authors, musicians and artisans demonstrating their work.
