Last Thursday at the Locust City Council meeting Mayor Efird and the council recognized NC House Representative Justin Burr’s efforts to secure funding for the Greenway project in Locust. The city is requesting $175,000 to design and build a system of trails that will connect the community with the regional points of interest.
The greenway will provide nature trails and help preserve land usage for the City of Locust. There will be no motorized traffic on the trails, increasing the safety of the area for children, and for all to play, run, and exercise.
“The City of Locust is extremely grateful to Rep. Burr for his assistance in securing funds for our greenway project. This project will allow residents of numerous neighborhoods access to each other as well as the Town Center and the Food Lion shopping center. The City continues to work diligently to make our community the best place to live, work, and play,” said Mayor Efird.
