Dr. David Hill of Albemarle Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) recently during ceremonies at the Academy’s 2011 Annual Meeting in San Diego.  Dr. Hill was one of 667 new members inducted.

The Academy is the largest medical association for musculoskeletal specialists.  Its Fellows have completed medical school and at least five years of specialty study in orthopedics in an accredited residency program.  After residency, candidates must pass a comprehensive oral and written exam to be certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

With offices in Albemarle and Locust, Dr. Hill treats both adult and pediatric patients for joint pain, sports injuries and fractures.

Currently, Dr. Hill is among a very small number of orthopedic surgeons in North Carolina who have completed fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery.  He also has extensive training in sports medicine.  His work has been published in orthopedic journals and textbooks.   Dr. Hill has also presented his work to his fellow orthopedic surgeons at professional meetings.

With more than 36,000 members, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (www.aaos.org) or (www.orthoinfo.aaos.org), is a not-for-profit organization that provides education programs for orthopedic surgeons, allied health professionals and the public.
