Taken from the Stanly County Historian:
Local authors at Stanly County Museum
Local, bestselling mystery authors Joyce and Jim Lavene will be at the Stanly County Museum on Thursday, September 24 from 6 to 8 pm to talk about their book, A Corpse for Yew.
In the book, members of a fictional local historic society, along with museum director Jonathon Underwood, are looking for a cemetery revealed by dry Lake Whitley. The society, and botanist Peggy Lee from Charlotte, make a gruesome discovery; the dead body of one of their members. The society members and Peggy Lee must solve the whodunit before anyone else gets hurt.
The lake and museum director’s name should sound familiar to Stanly County residents. Joyce and Jim will talk about the poisonus plants of the area and sign copies of their book at the event. For more information, call 704-986-3777. The event is free to the public.
