Central Cabarrus High School is hosting the Cavalcade of Bands this weekend (Saturday, September 26) and we wanted to spread the word to the community. This is a family friendly event that begins at 3 pm at Central Cabarrus and will run until 10 pm. This marching band competition is the largest competition ever hosted by Central Cabarrus and we’re expecting 22 high school bands to attend – including all of the high schools in Cabarrus county plus several schools from Union, Gaston, and Mecklenburg counties and bands from as far away as Raleigh and Winston Salem.
Last year’s Cavalcade of Bands was rained out and we’re keeping our hopes up the weather will hold this Saturday. Many of the bands are also competing at Mount Pleasant High School in the morning and then traveling across town to compete at Central Cabarrus – so both schools are working together regarding logistics. These band competitions are huge fundraisers for both band programs and the money raised is used to fund travel, pay for instruments, uniforms, etc. The Band Booster Programs are responsible for running these competitions and rely on the help of band parents and volunteers – both students and community volunteers to ensure the events success.
